History was made in Skegness this bank holiday weekend when the Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway was back on the rails again 25 years after it was feared lost forever.
The railway was first opened in Humberston near Cleethorpes in 1960 when it transported holidaymakers to the beach and a holiday camp.

The Grunnill family is long established in Skegness. Some of its members have been prominent in coast guard and seafaring activities.
The 1841 census of Skegness records only one Grunnill. He was Thomas, born in 1816 and he was a fisherman. Thomas was living at Marine Villa in Skegness, with Mary Grunnill and Henry Moody.

Baptism records began in 1562 and are taken from the Bishop’s Transcripts. The parish church of Skegness was swallowed up by the sea in 1526. Living History
The English Civil War era was re-enacted by the Living History group, Sealed Knot at Skegness Church Farm Heritage Museum recently.
The two-day event included an authentic battle and children’s toys, as well as displays of traditional crafts such as lace-making, woodwork, braiding and spinning wool.
