Wedding Slide Show

A charity wedding fayre in aid of the Skegness day Centre was held at the Royal Hotel, South Parade, Skegness yesterday.

The event, which wasa well attended, was organised by Krislam’el Wedding Dresses, with displays from local businesses dealing in bridal wear. Displays included wedding hats, pretty seat covers, a chocolate fountain, wedding jewellery and bridai bouquets. Local models gave a fashion show of the latest wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses and pageboy’s outfits.

But the cutest model must have been an adorable black, long-haired chiwawa which was modeling the latest design in ‘diamond’ studded dog collars!

Skegness Fire Service Climb Ladder 160 Times for National Sport Relief

local news story date 15th July 2006
Skegness fire fighters took part in the Sport Relief Day today. This is a national event which aimed for 16,000,000 miles to be walked by fund raisers across the country, each participant walking one mile.
The Skegness Fire Service chose to ‘walk’ their miles up and down ladders.
They began at 9am this morning, erecting two ladders on the face of the Co-Op store on Lumley Road, Skegness.
Skegness News on Video caught up with fire fighter, Steve Ives, who explained what was going on.

He added that the Fire Service were also promoting community fire safety. They were inviting members of the public to have a home fire risk assessment. This involves the fire servicemen visiting individual homes to look for possible fire hazards.
Steve added that the fire service were doing a recruitment campaign. He appealed to anyone in the local area who may be interested in becoming a fire fighter, male or female, to get in touch with Skegness Fire Station.

The fire fighters certainly attracted lots of attention in the main shopping area of Skegness, and many of the shoppers and holidaymakers were dropping money in the collection buckets!

The Skegness Fire Service’s Ladder Climb raised £2682.20 for National Sport Relief.
A spokesman for the Skegness Fire Station said it was “a good effort by all involved”.

Special thanks to the Skegness Fire Service for their co-operation in making this video.

Written by Angela Gooch on Sunday, December 16th, 2007 in Charity Fun.

For the first time in history, a Santa Fun Run took place in Skegness.

It was an amazing and hilarious spectacle as hundreds of Santas ran like ants along the seafront.

The event was organised by the Skegness Rotary Club and proceeds are to go to local charities.

The Santas spent several minutes doing warm up exercises before the fun run was ’started’ by the Mayor of Skegness, Coun Ken Milner.

And they’re off…

From the Pier they ran back up the seafront, around the boating lake, down South Parade to the Clock Tower and back down to the finish line near the lifeboat station.

The joint winners, Janine Stones and Alan Wheeler, were presented with a special medal by the the Mayor of Skegness.

I just HAD to shoot video footage of the Santa run, it was so funny, but this made it impossible to take still photos at the same time. So professional photographer and photojournalist, Paul Gooch kindly offered to take pictures especially for us.The Skegness Santa Run brought the town together, once again, in a truly magnificent display of fine community spirit.

WELL DONE TO EVERY ONE! and a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
