The Finance Committee last week considered a letter from Messrs. Walker, Rainey and Owen, solicitors, Spilsiby, with reference to some difficulty the solicitors have had over negotiations for the sale of certain house property in Skegness, in respect of which an advance had been made by the Council under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts and the deeds of which were lost in the
Town Hall fire some years ago.
These negotiations had fallen through owing to the fact that the solicitors were unable to supply particulars of certain restrictive covenants on the property in question, as a result of the loss of the deeds.
Messrs. Walker, Rainey and Owen felt this was a case in which the Council should bear the costs, amounting to two guineas, incurred by their client, in view of the circumstances. The Council, however, regret they are unable to accede to this request.
