World Record Egg?

Something Eggstraordinary!
On View in “News” Office Window.
There is on view in the window of the “News” Office, Lumley Road, what we consider to be the ” last word ” in eggs.
The one exhibited was laid last month by an ordinary buff Orpington hen belonging to a Skegness lady, and when first found weighed 6 3/4 ounces. Inside the outer egg, which, by the way, measures 7 5/8 inches in diameter and 8 3/4 inches ovally, was another hen’s egg containing a yolk and perfect in every way. The outer shell has, of course, had to be cut open to allow extraction of inner egg for “blowing”
purposes.
The owner, Mrs. Hill, of Highfield House, Dorothy Avenue, Skegness, has kindly loaned us the egg for purposes of exhibition. We venture to assert that it holds the record in the egg line in this country and we doubt whether America, the land of big things, could produce its twin. It seems that “you never know what you can do till you really try” applies to hens as well as humans!
Although one could forgive a bit of it “swank” by the producer of this monster, Mrs. Hen does not appear unduly elated at the achievement and is still pursuing her usual avocations in true hen manner. She must have ” laid herself out ” in very truth to present her owner with this eggstraordinary specimen !
