Bird Lays Eggs on Rollercoaster

When the Figure Eight, an amusement park ride at Skegness, was being overhauled preparatory to Whitsuntide and the season, a blackbird’s nest was found built by the side of the track, with the hen sitting upon her eggs.
Thinking this to be an impossible place for successful hatching operations, the nest was removed.
The bird, however, made so much fuss about it, that her nest was replaced, and instead of deserting as was expected, the mother immediately resumed business and is there now, despite the fact that the noisy wheels of the cars pass every few seconds within six inches of her tail.

The Figure Eight staff are naturally very anxious that success shall attend the blackbird’s devoted efforts.
