A Bullock’s End
A bullock, the property of Mr. Walter Cook, butcher, of Skegness, purchased by him at Boston on a Wednesday in 1915, went “a bit wild” upon arriving at Skegness the same evening. The antics of the beast in a cattle-truck, created a little excitement for a while, but Mr, Cook’s prowess with a pole-axe soon put an end to, both the bullock’s career and the interest of the onlookers..

What exactly DID Mr Cook DO to that poor ol’ bullock with his pole-axe?
Note: Cook’s butchers were situated, up until quite recently, on Roman Bank, Skegness, next door the the old Linen Cupboard. The premises are to the left of our recent picture below. Walter Cook moved into these premises shortly after the First World War, previously occupying Randall’s old shop.
