Welly Paddle

(2003) A PILOT event for Welly Paddle 2004 took place at Tower Esplanade, Skegness.
Up until seven years ago welly paddlers used to take part in the annual event to raise money for charities.
Originally organised by Skegness Day Centre, its president Harold Fainlight has decided to resurrect the event to raise more cash.
Paddlers paddle for 1,000 metres from Skegness Clock Tower to the pier and back.
Hopefully the event will be held as part of carnival week next year and paddlers are invited to take part and raise money for their own charities.
Skegness Day Centre needs the cash for a new ambulance to give better access for wheelchair users and to enable the centre to reach even more homes.
The day centre organised a tombola stall to publicise the event and some people went along in ready decorated wellies!.

Pictured having a ‘welly’ good time are, from left, day centre chairman Lawrence Taffinder, day centre treasurer Wendy Farmer, day centre president Harold Fainlight, Skegness Mayor Coun Andy Fletcher and the Jolly Fisherman.
