Tufty's Disco Skegness
July 1985
CHESTERFIELD Aquarius night club’s well known host Tommy Tuft is returning to Skegness for the summer season.
Multi-instrumentalist Tommy will combine his entertainment role with running the Variety Bar 85 and Tufty’s Discotheque at the former Sands nightclub on the resort’s pier.
Tommy is no stranger to Skegness having already worked six seasons compering and entertaining with his music, singing and gags.
Last summer he had a break in Jersey with his own show for 24 weeks. “I can’t resist the opportunity and challenge in Skegness,” said Sheffielder Tommy.
This season the Sands is taking on a new look. The Variety Bar will be transformed with Tommy’s own personal touch that has made him a favourite for the past 10 years at Chesterfield.
The Variety Bar 85 will offer nightly good family entertainment in the old seaside tradition. Tommy is a firm believer in the personalised show. “I like to get out into the audience and then bring the people on to the stage to make it part of the show. Too many modern entertainers have forgotten that old tradition found at the music hall.
“I can promise good clean family fun to make all their chuckle muscles work,” said Tommy.
He will be assisted with a talented trio of resident ladies — Wicked Ladies — who sing and dance. They actually join the show in July.
The music is supplied by Blackpool-based Tommy Littlewood Sounds. Guest entertainers will appear throughout the season nightly.
