Town Hall Treasures
Video of the Skegness Town Hall Open Day taken in September, 2006.
The video begins with the late Mr Terry Bryan, retired Skegness councillor, who tells us a bit about the history of the Mayoral Chains of Office.
Next, District Cllr. John Byford describes the two original paintings of the Skegness Jolly Fisherman, created by artist John Hassall. Cllr Byford then moves on to tell us about the Jolly Fisherman lacework made and presented to the town council by Steibels of Skegness in 1977.
Finally, Cllr. Byford is joined by the Town Clerk, Alan Crawshaw to tell us a little about the history of the Jubilee Clock Tower and the time capsule buried to commemorate its 100th anniversary.

So nice to watch the late Terry Bryan talking about the Mayoral chains – shows just how it is important to record!
Absolutely, John.
