Calendar Girls and Boys Strip Off for Charity

Children in Need

Skegness’ very own Calendar girls (and boys) strip off for charity!

calendar_boys_skegA BRAVE bunch of leisure centre employees from Skegness has stripped off to raise money for Children in Need.

Posing naked for a calendar with nothing but their dumbbells and floats on display, the posers who work together at the Embassy Swimming Pool hope to raise temperatures and over £1000 for the 2009 Children in Need campaign.

Ian Taylor, Mr June in the calendar, said:  “Someone suggested we pose naked for a tasteful calendar and to my amazement other people I work with agreed.  So we all met one night after the leisure centre closed, organised a professional photographer and had this wonderful calendar produced.  We now need our friends, families and customers to support us and Children in Need by buying it!”

Susie Webb, pictured with Janet Beall in March, explained: “It isn’t easy taking your clothes off in front of your colleagues but we were keen to do something different for Children In Need that would help make a substantial sum of money and take us out of our comfort zones.  This was the ideal choice!”

Although the team at the Pool did the photo shoot and organised the campaign in their own time, East Lindsey District Council is supporting them and other employees within the organisation who are doing their bit to raise money in support of this worthy cause.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Doreen Stephenson, who is a keen supporter of charity and voluntary work, said she encourages staff and the local community to support local and national charity campaigns: “Although it was somewhat of a surprise when I was told the team at the Embassy Pool would be taking their clothes off for charity, it is always the quirky things that make the money.  I wish them the best of luck in their campaign to become the next Calendar Girls.”

The calendars will be on sale at the Embassy Swimming Pool in Skegness from November 20, 2009, priced at £7.99. All proceeds from each sale will be donated to Children in Need.
