Skegness Boxing Day Dip 'n' Nip

DiverTake the plunge this Boxing Day to support children’s charity

FOR many of us, Boxing Day is spent recovering from the heavy indulgence of Christmas so why not try something a bit different this year.

Children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent is appealing for brave volunteers to take the plunge and sign up to the first Skegness Boxing Day Dip ‘n’ Nip.

Hardy swimmers will be sponsored to take to the North Sea for a quick bracing swim before enjoying a hot glass of something warming.

The event is taking place from 11.30am on Saturday December 26 at the North Shore Hotel in Skegness and all participants will be given a free CLIC Sargent t-shirt.

Fancy dress is optional and dippers can take to the sea individually or as part of a team.
CLIC Sargent’s local event fundraising manager Claire Palmer said: “I’m sure there are lots of brave locals who will join in the fun and help us raise much-needed funds to support families affected by childhood cancer.

“Whether you will be braving the sea yourself or coming to support a dip and nipper we would love to see you there.”

CLIC Sargent helps children and young people with cancer and their families with the trauma of diagnosis, the often long journey through treatment and continues to support them afterwards.

Participants are asked to pay a registration fee of £10 and to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship each to take part.

All proceeds from the dip and nip will go towards offering clinical, practical and emotional support for families affected by childhood cancer.

Dippers must be over the age of 16 and parental consent is required for those under 18 years old.
