Skegness Industrial Works Bombed German Broadcast Claim
…but our only factory produces sticks of Skegness Rock!
German Propaganda Broadcast
How Nazis defeat their own object
The Germans broadcast on Thursday evening last that their machines had bombed “industrial works at Skegness and Yarmouth.”
In view of the fact that our only industrial works here is a confectionary factory which produced sticks of Skegness rock for young holiday-makers, an industry which has been killed by the war, one wonders why Dr Goebbels issues such statements.
The hundreds of thousands of holiday-makers who have visited Skegness in the past are aware that our only industry is that of catering for holiday-makers. These listeners therefore know that the statement is a false one, and naturally deduce that other statements from the same source may be equally false.
If Germany is reduced to bombing undefended residential areas it would appear that the Nazi heads fear defended areas of military importance, and have descended to this form of warfare in a state of panic or fury because they are losing the war.
Skegness has in all been raided four times. There have been two fatalities – two innocent sleeping children. Material damage in the urban district has been confined to house property and roads.
This murder of little children only stiffens the determination of the populance not to give in to a Government which issues such orders, Every time an open town is bombed the Germans add fuel to the fire: they infuriate, not intimidate.
