Travellers Under Mobile CCTV Surveillance

Pressure tactics are being used on a group of travellers in Skegness as mobile CCTV cameras are brought in to monitor their movements.

A group of around five caravans was reported to have taken up ‘illegal residence’ on Princes Parade carpark in Skegness last Wednesday, but it appears that more have now joined them. East Lindsey District Council have already met with them to ask them to vacate the land.

Legal action will be taken by applying to the magistrates’ court for a repossession order for the land if they don’t move on.

Update: East Lindsey District Council has now begun legal proceedings to move the group and the land brought back under control as soon as possible, which can take up to two weeks.

Skegness has seen several plagues of travellers over the last few years, the worst of which must have been the Christmas Eve Traveller Invasion 2000, which resulted in several of the town’s pubs and clubs closing over the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Since then, the travellers have pitched up on the Wainfleet Road Playing Fields and the former Kwiksave car park, as well as several times on Princes Parade car park.

Our video below shows the travellers being moved off the Wainfleet Road Playing Fields in 2006 by the police.

  1. TRAVELERS AND GYPSIES :why is it these people are allowed a law unto themselves, pay no council tax but residents have to pay out for cleaning their rubbish, kids no stable home no school yet social services dont take kids into care or fine them for not sending them to school, dont have to declare their earnings to the tax office, and i bet they get free health care,a russian lorry driver was asleep in his cab parked on heath road and had all his desiel syphoned out of his tank by the travellers.they are just thieves ,conmen, and vagabonds, this type of old fashioned comunity in this country should no longer be tolerated not in this day and age when they could be housed in a proper enviroment in a modern world but trouble is they would want it free and not abide by council rules or mix with other comunities.
