Skegness Firefighter Bikes for Alzheimers Charity
A Skegness firefighter is bike-riding outside Hildred’s Shopping Centre today to raise money for the Alzheimers Association.
Mark is doing today’s ride as training for the Lanzarote Ironman event which will be taking place on the 23rd May 2009. The Lanzarote Ironman is recognised as the most gruelling Ironman event in the whole world, consisting of a two-and-a-half mile sea swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride, finishing with a full marathon (26.2 miles run). He hopes to complete the whole event in fourteen hours.
By 1.30 this afternoon, Mark told us he had been biking for three-and-a-half hours and had clocked up 80 miles, and hopes to have reached his target by 4pm. Already he has raised 1,400 pounds.
If you’re in Skegness on this Bank Holliday Monday, you’ve still got time to get down to Hildred’s and give Mark a bit of support!
The Alzheimers Assoiciation is particularly close to Mark’s heart as his father has been a sufferer for the last three years.
