Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival

Discover the wonders of the Wolds and surrounding countryside in the 2009 Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival – bigger and better than ever before!

THE 2009 Wolds Walking Festival is set to bigger and better than ever before with over 90 exciting walks taking place between May 16 and May 31 all led by experienced walk leaders, and over 80 of them are free!

Walk leaders have been extra creative this year and the action packed programme includes many walks with a difference – Chocolate Walk, Ice Cream walks, Medieval Villages, Ghost walks, Coastal walks and Tennyson to name just a few.

Something to suit everyone is at the heart of the programme in an attempt to encourage you to take to the Wolds and surrounding countryside for fresh air and a glimpse of the breathtaking views that make Lincolnshire and its towns and villages so special.

Organisers haven’t forgotten serious ramblers though and have included walks of over fifteen miles all taking in the charm and beauty of the area.

Some of the walks have been arranged using public transport, for instance Nettleham to Caistor, which will fit between train times, so there is no excuse for not coming along!

The walks cover a range of terrains – please see details of the programme at www.woldswalkingfestival.co.uk
Programme Organiser, Karen East, explained: “The Walking Festival is now the 3rd largest in the country with hundreds of people flocking to Lincolnshire to take part.

“We are particularly keen for people of all ages to take part this year and have reflected this in the programme.”
To mark the start of the festival there will be a launch event in Market Rasen on Saturday, May 16 between 10.30am and 4pm.  The day’s activities include a series of short walks, mini-beast hunts, stilt, globe and tight rope walking workshops, climbing wall, mini Tastes of Lincolnshire Food Fair, morris dancing, face painting and much much more…
