Graham Bonnet Marbles Butlins Skegness 1969
The visit of Disc Jockey Alan Freeman to Butlin’s Holiday Camp, Skegness, in 1969 was a great success. A crowd of over 2,000 in the capacious Princes Ballroom was treated to a high-speed skilfully compered programme of pop-music.
The programme went out for a solid two hours on Radio 1 and a good 30 minutes after the show, campers swarmed round for autographs.
The successful Skegness pair, the “Marbles” (pictured below with DJ Steve Hanson left) were introduced to the spectators and Alan Freeman played a track from their latest long-playing disc, “I Can’t See Nobody.”
Another group presented were the “Eternal Triangle,” whose music also was included in the programme.
