A Romantic Suicide
A young man named Frank Burrows, between 16 and 17 years of age, lately residing with his parents at Hastings, has committed suicide under romantic circumstances.
He was found lying jammed between the rocks on the beach at Ecclesbourne valley, about a mile to the east of Hastings by the coastguard.
At the inquest held, it transpired that the deceased, who was an apprentice to an ironmonger at St Leonards, had left a letter at his home, stating his intention to kill himself. He had, he wrote, met his young lady on the pier, and he “could not live without her, as he loved her with all his heart and soul.” All he asked was that his family should not grieve for him. The letter concluded with the words, “Goodbye for the present.”
The evidence of the doctor showed that the lad had evidently thrown himself from the cliff, which is very steep at Ecclesbourne, as his skull was fractured, a thigh broken, and his face disfigured. The tide, which flows to the base of the cliffs, had afterwards carried the body to the rocks some little distance from the shore.
The jury returned a verdict that the deceased committed suicide whilst in a state of temporary insanity.

i like this story even though it has an ending that is unfortunate but the fact that he did it to be with the one he loved. thats so sweet. i lost my first love just recently march 25 in texas and i have the same intentions because i know where that man was coming from i cant exist without my baby.
i have just read your story WIDOW,and cant imajine your grief, but i think your loved one would have wanted you to live for him not live in moarning, although theres nothing anyone can say to you to console your loss,i really think you need to talk to someone like a councilor or someone that is trained to deal with your depression
as i can see you are very distressed and at a loss at how to cope with his death,i wish their was something i could say to help in anyway but all i can say is that if you loved him then dont let him have died in vain ,he would have wanted you to get on and enjoy the rest of your life,it takes time to get over the feeling of loss and you have to give yourself time ,this is life iam afraid and we all lose someone along the way,but if we look forward and move on then eventualy we will find someone else to love and share our lives with, iam sure that the love you you have potraid in your story can again be bestowed on to someone else and that are worthy of the deep love that you can give,my heart goes out to you and hope by reading this you will know that someone cares and that you will decide that your life is worth living and you can begin again,…..rob xx
