"Votes for Women" – on a pony? Practical Joke
A well-known local character, who resides not a thousand miles from Burgh Market-place, was the victim of a somewhat amusing practical joke at Skegness last Wednesday.
He was driving a very shaggy little pony and, owing to the excessive heat, left the animal whilst he went to regale himself with a pot of lemonade or some other lubricating element.
During his protracted absence some fun-loving mortals, taking advantage of the animal’s shaggy coat, cut the words “Votes for Women!” on each side of the pony.
Jimmy Green tells us that the execution was perfect and the “old hoss looked a fair treat when finished.”
We draw a veil over the discovery by the owner and subsequent happenings!
