Roll of Honour in the Pleasure Gardens
Roll of Honour in the Pleasure Gardens
The Roll of Honour of the Skegness men who have joined the colours in any branch of the Service has been placed at the Pleasure Garden entrance.
Over 400 names are inscribed, of which 8 are missing, 40 are wounded, and 22 men who have died in the glorious cause of right.
The frame was presented to the Council by G E Holmes, the late chairman, now serving with the R. F. C., and the inscriptions were made by Lieut. Jenkins, Surveyor to the Council.
During the absence of Lieut. Jenkins Mr Kemp, surveyor, Wainfleet Road, Skegness, has kindly undertaken to keep it up-to-date.
It is a splendid record of the great number of Skegness men who are doing their bit to try and prevent the Hun from over-running and annexing every small State; to keep England free from an invading force, and to try and thrash the Hun for his delinquency.
We are requested to state that Coun J Walker, JP, the Chairman of the Skegness Council, will be pleased to receive a notification from relatives of serving men whose names may inadvertently have been omitted, or the correct information not inserted. As complete a roll as possible is the desire and wish of every Councillor.
