Accident to a Circus Horse
An unpleasant experience for a circus horse
Source: Skegness Herald 1894
Throughout the last season a horse has been occupied on the sands, which had previously been engaged in circus performances, and having no use for it at present, the owner let Mr Goodwin the captain of the yacht at Gibraltar Point have it for the winter for its keep.
On Tuesday last, Captain Goodwin decided to go for a drive in a trap with his little boy, during which the animal backed into a drain immersing the occupants of the vehicle in water and mud.
The captain sustained a slight injury in the leg and thus had an unpleasant ducking. The shafts of the vehicle were also broken.
After having been liberated, the animal deliberately laid down as though it were acting a part in a public performance.
