They were really post war. Seems that vandalism has never been short in any time period.
At least there is historical evidence of the toilets so history is retained.
Glad I was referred to this website and getting down the history of Skegness.
UNDERGROUND TOILETS:yes have relieved myself a many a time in these toilets,you used to have to put an old penny in slots on the doors if you want a cubicle,but standing at the urinels was free.you could get a wash and brush up down there but had to pay,i remember big old wieght scales at one end,there was four enterances two for the mens and two for the womens,they used to be maintained quite well at one time but the next generation of youths had no respect and vandleised them regularly,attracted cottageing,and drug taking,even though its another piece of skegness history gone i think it needed to be demolished in the end.
