It’s the end! The Hall on Roman Bank has come tumbling down.
In its place, there will be a sheltered retirement development assuming planners give the go-ahead. The public will have chance to buy shares in the new venture.
The Hall was once of of the finest buildings in Skegness. Dating from the early 19th century, it formerly stood in two acres of gardens, orchard and paddock.
The outbuildings included a coach-house and a stables. Time was when it was in regular use as a riding school, with up to 20 horses setting off for a morning canter.
In recent times, however, it fell into disrepair and owner, the Earl of Scarbrough, put it in the hands of estate agents Strutt and Parker. The asking price was in excess of £250,000.
The new owners are Lincourt Retirement Homes – a public company who have just completed one sheltered housing development in Grantham.
Lincourt are also involved in a similar venture in York, and developments are also proposed at Spalding and Woodhall Spa.
In order to accelerate its expansion programme, Lincourt will shortly be seeking at raise additional capital. There will be an issue of ordinary shares under the Business Expansion Scheme – rather as happened with Panda’s Palace.
For interested individuals, the minimum investment is likely to be about £750.
