New Skyride erected

Workmen guide a girder into position as it is lowered by a crane.
This was the scene on the North Parade Amusement Park, Skegness on Thursday when a start was made on erecting a 351 feet long Skyride.
This new attraction should be ready by next Easter.
Fourteen open cars will take passengers along a cable up to a height of about 40 feet to the sand dunes and back, each ride lasting for about three minutes.
This is the elevated station where they will begin and end.
It will also serve as a new illuminated entrance to the park.
To ensure safety, it has been built on a four-foot-thick concrete platform with piles going down 31 feet.
Watching the operation were the joint owners, Mr John Hurt and Coun Ron Scott.
Coun Scott said the Skyride would give a good view over Skegness.
It had been planned for last season but the metal shortage delayed delivery.
They would work on it themselves during the winter.
A lot of fibreglass work would be involved.
The cars would have stabilisers to stop them swaying and it would have to be very windy for them to close the ride.
