Pictured, is the Skegness water tower which will be knocked down next year because, say the Anglian Water Authority, it is no longer needed.
Area manager, Mr Ian Campbell said it was not possible to bring it up to modern standards. And the tower, built in the late 1920s for storage purposes, was no longer necessary.
The 200,000 gallons it holds would have served the population for about half a day, now it would only last half an hour.
“We can do the job of breaking the pressure of water in the main with valves buried in the ground,” he said.
The tower, despite a 12 degree list, was safe.
