The inhabitants of a village near the East Coast have turned one back on Hitler. Some time ago they awoke to find their lanes, hedges and fields covered with leaflets containing excerpts from one of the Fuehrer’s speeches.
Of course there was a general rush to secure these curios but wiser counsels prevailed and the majority were handed over to the village schoolmaster and policeman to convert into cash.
A large sum was raised and it was decided to purchase stirrup pumps in case the raiders should return on other business. These have now been placed in every part of the village with full equipment and the balance has been handed over to a Spitfire fund.
