Matilda has a Respray

She’s not called Marilyn Monroe, Bridget Bardot or Diana Dorrs – just plain Matilda.
Her vital statistics are askew, her bathing suit well worn, and although she’s not exactly a slick chick, she’s a chip off the old block and one of Skegness’ most famous landmarks.
During winter Matilda was taken down to have a re-spray, but on Saturday the diving damsel was her usual bright self again, and was given a helping hand – or should it be hands – to her pedestal atop the dome at the Bathing Pool.
A surer sign that summer has arrived there could not be.
Matilda is pictured with some of the admiring workmen who helped her to the dome, from the left: K Sharpe, D Bingham, F Beeby and S Hewlett.

So, does anyone remember Matilda? Have you got an old picture postcard of Skegness Bathing Pool in the late 50s or early 60s? Have a look, see if you can spot Matilda.
Don’t forget to let us know if you do…
