Jolly Fisherman Railway Sign Auctioned
THIS Jolly Fisherman advertising sign was auctioned in 1982, by the famous Christie’s, of South Kensington. Expected to fetch between £100-150 the plaster and wood sign, measuring 33in x 21in (84cm by 53cm), used to hang at Kings Cross station to remind people of the Great Northern Railway’s daily trips to the town for as little as three shillings (15p).
It was part of a sale of railway memorabilia.
