When the last Gas Exercises in Skegness streets were held, many residents were caught unawares in Lumley Road, and when the tear gas was released, duly “wept for their sins ” through not carrying their gas-masks.

On another occasion the fumes drifted on to the Cricket Ground and caused a cessation of activities, which was duly noted as “Gas stopped play.”

Another exercise is now announced and on a favourable occasion during the week commencing Wednesday, February 4th, tear gas will be released in the streets, so it behoves residents to comply with A.R.P. requirements and carry their gas masks—or tears may be the result of not so doing.
