DEATH OF MR. W. DOWSE January 1924

Old respected Tradesman
We are called upon to chronicle yet another death – making the fifth in the town within six days – that of Mr William Dowse, which occurred at his residence “Saskatoon”, Wainfleet Road. Skegness, just prior to midnight on Monday New Year’s eve.

We understand that the deceased gentleman had been in his usual health, and during the evening had participated in table games with members of his family.

The end came with tragic suddenness and created a very painful sensation in the town when the news became known.
Mr Dowse who followed the occupation of a basket and chair maker, was an old resident of Skegness and for several years was proprietor of Osborne House in High Street. He and Mrs Dowse celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1921. A grown-up family is left to mourn their loss.
The death of Mr Dowse marks the second loss sustained by the Primitive Methodist connexion within a couple of days, the deceased gentleman being a regular and devout worshipper within that body.

He was between 70 and 80 years of age and enjoyed respect of those who knew him.
