Broughton's Antique Shop 1930s Skegness
Broughton’s Antique Shop Drummond Road Skegness
We were contacted by our esteemed friend, Skegness born Bert Crawshaw who told us he had been in touch with a Mr Chris Booth whose grandfather, T H Broughton, had owned an antique shop on Drummond Road, Skegness in the 1930s.
Bert forwarded us these photos of Broughton’s Antique Shop, which belong to Mr Booth who currently has an Antiques shop at Rovelden, near Tenterden and also owns the Morgan motor museum.
We carried out investigations to trace the site of the former Broughton’s Antique Shop and find out what is in its place today and it transpires that the premises is situated on the southern corner of Trafalgar Avenue and Drummond Road, Skegness.
Our picture below shows that today it is a wedding and bridal dress shop.
Do YOU remember the shop? Bert tells us that he still has an ornament which he once purchased from the shop!

i think it used to be a second hand shop in the 80s if i remember
i think that during the war the shop was a cafe for the forces to get a cup of tea and a bun
In the late 40s and early 50s the shop was a dry cleaners owned by a Mr Viv Cardell My friend Nicky Grassier lived at the flat over the shop. The entrance was up steps to the entrance porch that can be seen on the photo.
Thanks for that extra information, Graham.
