LOCAL TRADESMAN AWARDED A GOLD MEDAL
At a competition in connection with the Master Baker and Confectioners Society held
in London a few weeks since, Mr. J. Green, baker and confectioner, Lumley Road Skegness obtained the, highest award – a hall marked solid gold medal, a diploma, for the excellence and purity of his bread.This, we believe is not the first prize that our townsman has obtained for the excellent quality of his bread.

This news article reminded me of a news story from the 1950s where Mr John Green give an account of some mystery millstones (below) which were being thrown out of an old baker’s premises on Lumley Road.
