News story about three teenage girls who went into a sweetshop in High Street, Skegness, to find that the 24 year old shop assistant had his flies undone, exposing [himself].

The man, Edward Gray admitted that he had “acted in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace”. He said he accidently left his flies undone when he went to the toilet.

Three teenage girls noticed that Edward Gray’s flies were undone and his [censored] was open to view while he was serving behind a shop counter, magistrates heard.
Gray, 24, of High Street Skegness, admitted a complaint that on October 18th last year, he had acted in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace.
Skegness magistrate bound him over to keep the peace for a year in the sum of £50.
Gray had earlier pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecent exposure and the prosecution offered no evidence in that case and the charge was dismissed.

Distress

Mr Philip Howes, prosecuting said that on October 18, two 15-year-old girls and one 16-year-old had gone into the shop to buy sweets.
Gray was behind the counter and the girls saw that his flies were open and his [censored] was open to view.
There was no indication by Gray that the girls should look, said Mr Howes, but he stood there selling goods in that state of undress.
It did not really cause the girls particular distress, said Mr Howes. Had they been on their own it might have done.

Accidental

Gray’s [censored] had been on view and that could have caused a breach of the peace for anyone who had seen it, said Mr Howes.
Mr Ghaff Khan, representing Gray, said that any exposure had been pulely accidental.
Gray had been to the toilet and had heard someone in the shop. He had hurriedly come back and had not done up the buttons on his trousers.
Gray accepted that he had been careless and that his exposure could have caused alarm and distress, said Mr Khan.
