Antique Twin Pram
As a mystery picture this photograph of a three-wheeled vehicle is expected to have most readers guessing. It shows, in fact, a unique twin-pram which was hand-made around 1870 by Lincoln jeweller and watchmaker, Tom Scott.
When Mrs. Scott presented him with twins, he decided to build a suitable pram, complete with iron-bound wooden wheels, and foot-rests. The design is based on a dog-cart. The twins sat back to back.
Still in perfect condition (1967) it is owned by the builder’s grandson, R. Scott, of Sutton-on-Sea, the manager of Barclay’s Bank, Mablethorpe.
The pram was used for other children afterwards, for an 85-year-old aunt of Mr. Scott, who died recently, spoke of travelling in it when she was small. (Photo: F. J. Soar, Mablethorpe).
