Abolish Seathorne! Rename it Winthorpe!

SEATHORNE TO DIE? RESIDENTS, AWAKE ?
TOWN SURVEYOR SAYS VISITORS CONFUSE SUBURB WITH SEACROFT
Will Seathorne pass out of existence ?
This query is prompted by the report of Skegness’s Town Surveyor (Mr. R. H. Jenkins) to last week’s Roads Committee that visitors occasionally direct their taxi-drivers and parcels to Seacroft when they really mean Seathorne, and vice-versa.
In order to ensure no future violation of equanimity in this connection he recommended that the attractive appellation of Seathorne be forthwith abolished.
APPELLATIONS WORTHY OF BARRIE ?
Anyone who wishes to spend a pleasant half-hour in studying appellations should inspect the titles of the Beach Chalets east of the Seacroft Hotel, which are the modest work of our Surveyor, who submitted a number of both whimsical and mundane alternatives for Seathorne.
Unfortunately the unpoetic drafter of the Council minutes omitted these suggestions, which would have enabled the present residents of the dying Seathorne to talk them over. At all events the “Skegness News ” will be pleased to publish suggestions for a new name.
SHALL WE REVERT TO WINTHORPE ?
The Committee decided to mark time by asking the Post Office to change the name of Seathorne Post Office to Winthorpe. But is not this going the wrong way about things seeing that some other name may be forthcoming in the near future which may compel yet another change in the Post-Office Guide?
Citizens, or rather townspeople, or perhaps Villagers of Seathorne (Winthorpe)! Speak now or for ever afterwards hold your peace l
