Skegness Best Kept Train Station Award

Skegness gains a first award for best kept train station

SKEGNESS STATION of British Railways has been notified that it has gained a first class award for 1954 in the annual competition of British Railways for the best kept stations.

On several previous occasions Skegness has gained second class awards, but this is the first time that the converted first class has come its way, and to celebrate the occasion this picture of 45 members of the staffs of the station’s several departments was taken.

In the centre of the front row is Mr. J. H. Howden, stationmaster at Skegness, who succeeded Mr. W. E. Olle in that appointment in March, 1953.
