RAF Sea King Helicopter Skegness Emergency Landing
RAF Sea King Helicopter Emergency Landing in Skegness
An RAF Sea King helicopter made an emergency landing in Skegness today when it was having problems with its rotor blades.
The rescue helicopter landed in the North Parade carpark, opposite the Sea View Hotel just before 6pm this evening, and coastguards arrived at the scene to offer assistance, including securing the area from vehicles and onlookers.
The Lincolnshire Coastguard Section Manager told us that the aircraft from Leckenfield was on an excercise out at the wind farm off the coast of Skegness when it developed a tail rotor problem. He said a second aircraft which was also taking part in the excersise had returned to base to pick up an engineer who would then be brought to Skegness to repair the grounded helicopter.
