BEATING THE HUN WITH MUSIC
OLD GRAMOPHONE RECORDS URGENTLY NEEDED
Old gramophone records are urgently needed for war work. Those scratched recordings of symphony or swing can be converted into new records for the use of the Forces and war workers, and for munition making.
Among your collection of records there must be some which now produce little more than a series of hisses and squeaks. Some have pieces broken out of them. That doesn’t matter, because, unless they are very old indeed, they all contain shellac. Shellac mainly comes from India, and supplies are very short at present, and occupy valuable shipping space if we have to fetch it.
Ten and 12-inch records, double or single sided, are needed, because they contain up to 70 per cent of shellac.

SUBMARINE ACCESSORIES
Many of these old records can be repressed for the Forces.
War workers, too, welcome recorded music to relieve the monotony of long hours at machines.
Old records are also required for special work in connection with aircraft and submarine accessories; and for waterproofing many components such as primer cartridge caps.
Hunt through your records today, sort out all which are chipped and scratchy or which you can spare, and have them ready for the salvage collector when he calls.
