Laundry Cottages Roman Bank Skegness

ROAD WIDENING SCHEME

Demolition of cottages
THE old cottages near the laundry on Roman Bank are to be demolished to allow road widening works, if negotiations now being undertaken by the County Council are successfully completed. Now known as Laundry Cottages, the property stands in the way of any road improvement at that point.
The County Highways Committee has agreed with Skegness that the improvement is necessary and say it will be carried out when they obtain possession of the cottages. The District Valuer has been asked to negotiate with the owner.
The Clerk (Mr. Milton Turner) reminded the Housing Committee at its last meeting that the Council agreed previously that if the property was acquired for demolition, ” sympathetic consideration” would be given to the housing of the tenants.
The committee instructed the Clerk to rehouse the tenants in council property “as opportunity occurs.”
