KILLING RABBITS
To the Editor of the Skegness News
Dear Sir,
As large numbers of rabbits are now being reared for the purpose of food, it is possible that owners who have not kept rabbits before may know little as to the quickest and humane method of killing them.
When a rabbit has to be killed the best method to be used by comparatively inexperienced people is as follows:-
The rabbit should be held by the hind legs and given a sharp blow at the nape of the neck with the edge of a flat piece of wood.
The piece of wood should be about 18 inches long by 3 inches wide and 1 inch in thickness, with the striking edge bluntly tapered.
No great force is necessary in delivering the blow and death is instantaneous.
After stunning, the throat should be severed.

Yours faithfully, S. G. POLHILL Acting Chief Secretary.
