Fred Clements Wins Entertainments Tender

Skegness Herald 1902

TENDERS FOR SITES ON THE FORESHORE.

The Foreshore Committee reported that they had accepted an offer from Mr. Fred Clements of London, of £30 for a site on the foreshore for high-class variety entertainments during the season also that the following tenders for a site for performances on the foreshore had been received :
Will Chapman,, £10 10s. ; W. Marsh, £20; J. Maddock, £20 ; Clarence Cowell, by telegram, for the sole right, £35.

The Committee reported that as the Council cannot now give the sole right for use of the foreshore, and as Mr. Cowell had evidently tendered under a misapprehension, the surveyor communicate to Mr. Cowell the terms of the letting and ask him for an amended tender, and if such tender is equal to or in excess of the amount offered by Mr. Marsh the surveyor be instructed to let the site to Mr. Cowell.
