GARDENER’S DEATH NEAR BOWLING GREEN

A Skegness gardener was found in a shelter near the Sun Castle Bowling Greens on Sunday morning where he had apparently passed away while on duty in the gardens.
It is with regret that we record the sudden death of Mr. John Willie Toynton, aged 53 years, of 24 Sand-beck Avenue.
Mr. Toynton was a well-known gardener and employed by the S.U.D.C. He was born in Thorpe St. Peter, where his father was for many years an employee of the L.N.E. Railway.
On Sunday morning Mr. Toynton left home at 7 a.m. to proceed to the Sun Castle to water the palms, and apparently later went on to attend to the bowling green. He was found in one of the Bowling Green shelters later in the morning, with his gardening tools with him. He was an A.R.P. warden and served for four years in the last war, both in France and Egypt.
Mr. Toynton has left a wife, son and two daughters, his son having joined the forces during the last week.
The funeral will take place this afternoon (Wednesday) at St. Clement’s Church.
