SUBWAY PLAN MENTIONED

MENTION of plans for a pedestrian subway across Lumley Road at Clock Tower Corner, was made when S k e g n e s s Town Planning and Development Committee considered an application from the executors of Mr. J. Tansey last week.
The application was for the establishment of a building line to allow the erection of shops on both sides of the top of Lumley Road near the Clock Tower, east of Drummond Road and the Tower Cinema. When it came before the committee, Coun. T. Senior asked if it would affect any proposals there might be for a pedestrian subway at the Clock Tower junction.
The Surveyor, Mr. H. M. Cooper, said he understood that the sites would have room for a subway; but he suggested that the application should be deferred until a meeting could be held with the applicants to go further into their plans. At the moment, he pointed out, it was only an application to determine the building line for possible development.
The committee agreed to defer a decision until a meeting had been held.
