CHILD’S FATAL DASH THROUGH STREAM OF TRAFFIC.

SAD FATE OF FOUR-YEAR-OLD SKEGNESS BOY.

RUN OVER BY MOTOR BUS.

DRIVER EXONERATED BY CORONER’S JURY.

Dashing through a stream of traffic at Roman Bank on Easter Sunday morning, Dennis Alfred Plover, the four-and-a-half year old son of a Skegness upholsterer, was knocked down by a motor bus, run over, and so seriously injured that he died in the Skegness Cottage Hospital two-and-a-half hours later.

The sad circumstances attending his death was investigated by Mr. S. Rainey, Deputy Coroner for the Spilsby District, and a jury at the Skegness Petty Sessional Court-house last Monday afternoon.

The jury returned a verdict of accidental death, and exonerated the driver of the bus from all blame.

Mr W. W. Stinson, a director of Skegness Motor Service Company, owners of the bus, was present at the inquest, and Mr. R. F Frearson. solicitor, of Skegness, held a watching brief on behalf of the bus company’s insurance company.

The jury was empanelled as follows:

W. J. Cook (foreman), F. Bray, H. F. Briggs, M. Smedley, F. Henson, D. Cook and Mr Johnson.

The Coroner, at the outset, said that they had been summoned to inquire into the circumstances of the death of a small boy, aged only 4 years, who on Sunday last was standing on the east side of Roman Bank, near the Primitive Methodist Chapel, and who dashed across the road and was knocked down by an S.M.S. and was removed by ambulance to the Skegness Hospital where he died.
