Skegness Amusement Parks are to do their share in the national war effort.

Dodgem cars, scenic railways, roundabouts, water dodgems with their huge steel tanks, will soon be turned into munitions.

Messrs, Butlin’s Ltd. have presented to the Ministry of Works Scrap Metal Campaign many hundreds of tons of metal which is lying unused in their Amusement Parks all over the country.
The work of sorting and removal will start almost immediately.

At Skegness alone there is well over a hundred tons and Ministry officials are already arranging for its disposal. This metal could have been sold through the usual scrap merchants but Butlin’s have made it a free gift to the nation.

In addition to what is being done in Skegness Butlin’s Amusement Parks in Clacton, Felixstowe., Hayling Island, Bognor Regis and Littlehampton will give up electric speedways, chairoplanes, dodgem cars, boats and steel tanks, water pedal cycles, ghost trains, gliders, scenic railway cars, roundabouts, many miles of electric cables, worn out electric motors and old building machinery.

Useful parts of motors and old machinery will be removed and the remainder will go into the national melting pot.
