Nuttall's Skegness Beach Donkeys

Nuttall’s Seaside Donkeys

John has very kindly sent us some pictures of his donkeys, and tells us a little about them. “The first photo is of the best British team of ours the second year of winning, we also won Britains best donkeys award beating competitors from all over the UK in 2004 and 2005.
We lost to Weymouth in 2006 by 1 point.
We won East Lindsey’s best group of working donkeys in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
We didnt enter in 2003 otherwise we might have had a clean sweep!”
This is my Father who is 85 years young. He’s worked donkeys all of his life apart from the war years when he had a break from the beach. With him in the picture is my wife Michelle and baby Thalia, who is the latest Nuttall in our large family.

John promises “We will try this year to win back the title for Skegness but there is some good competition out there!.
Our family originates from Cleethorpes and donkeys have been in our family for over 100 years, thats why our logo is ‘Family run for donkeys years’ “.

The Best British Donkey competitions are organised by the Donkey Sanctuary who put lots of hard work into the events.

Down at Nutshell Farm

John Nuttall invited Skegness Magazine to take some video footage of the annual donkey inspection by the donkey sanctuary down at his Nutshell Farm in Skegness. The donkeys were brought out one by one to be examined by the vet, chipped and branded. Sam the Donkey proved to be a bit of a handful for his handler – he thought his luck was in when he saw the trailer which transports the herd down to the beach! He made a beeline for it several times, despite rigourous attemps to constrain him!
