Royalty was crowned when the new Skegness carnival queen, princess and rosebud were chosen this evening and young hopefuls aimed to catch the judges’ eyes in the competition held at the Suncastle, North Parade, Skegness.

We bring you the first pictures of the successful contestants:

Right to left – Rosebud, Alisha Porter age 9; Queen, Chelsea Bryan, age 18; and Princess, Millie Hardisty, age 11.

Chelsea is a classroom assistant at Seathorne School and tells us she is looking forward to the coming year as Skegness Carnival Queen.

We asked the retiring Queen, Jessica how she felt now her reign was over. “I don’t want to give it back,” she said, “it’s been a wonderful year.”
