Boston Model Boat Club

In November 1991, after many years of success, the ‘Boston Modelling Club’ transpired into the ‘Boston Model Boat Club’ and became an independent organisation.
The interests and themes of club members are wide and varied. Many aspects are covered for example, plastic and wooden boats, boats built from plans and the modellers own design. The type of boats in the club ranges from yachts, fast electric racing boats, steamboats, internal combustion (IC) powerboats, submarines plus every imaginable type of scale boat from tugs to battleships.
During the summer months there are regular regattas held at the club’s purpose built pond on the outskirts of Boston. The club also participates in several inter-club regattas within the East Anglia Region. Throughout the year they have monthly meetings, which include presentations on a nautical theme.
Whichever form of model boating appeals to you, a warm and enthusiastic welcome awaits you from all members of Boston Model Boat Club. For beginners of this fascinating hobby advice and support can be offered. If you are interested in joining the club or require further information please contact:

How to find the Boston Model Boat Club
From Boston’s Haven Bridge follow the signs for Boston Docks. At the Haven Public House turn left into Skirbeck Road. About a third of a mile along this road you will see Skirbeck Church on your right. Keep on this road, about 100 yards further on is a right turning into River Way, Turn right here. A few yards up the incline on the right you will see large steel gates with Port of Boston on them, go through these gates, continue along this road and the pond is another 200 yards on your right.
We caught up with some of the Boston Model Boat Club members today at the Wrangle Show, Lincolnshire. Our picture shows the two founder members, Stan (left) and Nigel Baker with a selection of the model boats.
Stan tells us about one of the boats he’d made, the Dutch boat ‘Geest Room’, which he told us was pronounced ’streem’, in the video below. The ‘Geest Room’ travelled the coast of England delivering its cargo of vegetables, docking at Boston Lincolnshire.
