What we have heard about the incident… (Although the following is from a reliable source, we do not claim it to be 100% accurate)
The news reports carry the wrong age for the gunman - he appears to be in his 50s.
The gunman barged into the shop just before closing time, said that he wanted money and demanded to know where the safe keys were.
The two female staff told him that the banking had been done and this was all that was left.
The gunman stole two bags of change and the contents of the till, amounting to around £900.
The gunman told the the staff to lock themselves in a back room for ten minutes after he had left.
One of the staff managed to carry out a security measure (which we will not reveal) during the robbery.
The gunman had been into the betting shop during the day of the robbery and asked what time the shop shut.
One of the female staff, immediatley after the robbery phoned her partner who then phoned a member of the Ingoldmells branch of Ladbrokes’ management staff. The latter arrived onscene within four minutes, along with the assistant manager of the Butlin’s branch, and before the arrival of the police.
Ladbrokes have a councilling programme inplace to help staff who have been traumatised.
One of the female members of staff feels unable to continue to work the nightshift at the betting shop.
Another security measure is in place (which we will not reveal) which may assist catching the gunman.
