Jolly Fisherman Steam Train 100th Birthday Video

It was full steam ahead for the Jolly Fisherman Steam Train when the Jolly Fisherman service blasted out of Keighley, Bradford, behind two diesel locomotives - a pair of class 20s - that used to operate the train in the 1980s and 90s.

The Jolly Fisherman service started operating in 1908 and connected the district and other parts of Yorkshire to the resort of Skegness.
To mark the train’s 100th birthday, the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway pulled out all the stops to recapture the spirit of the service.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Skegness, Coun Neil Pimperton and Coun Rita Pimperton travelled to Bradford to join in the celebrations, along with Skegness’ mascot, the Jolly Fisherman and Butlins redcoats.
The original Jolly Fisherman headboard, which is kept in the Mayor’s Parlour of Skegness Town Hall, was specially shipped in for the occasion.
The Jolly Fisherman Steam Train was the oldest train and one of the highlights of the railway’s recent diesel gala.

See the Telegraph & Argus for more information and a video of the Jolly Fisherman Steam Train.
