Janice Sutton Dance School Skegness

The Janice Sutton School of Music and Dance has been established in Skegness for over 50 years, and over the decades has continually turned out first class theatre productions at the Embassy Centre in Skegness, with glitzy costumes and polished dance routines. The Janice Sutton School has starred at the London Palladium in the past but reached unpresidented heights last Sunday when they appeared at Her Majesty’s Theatre London (see photo).

We met up with Miss Sutton a short while ago and she told us a little about her past, showing us an old newspaper cutting from the 1940s, appraising her as a very promising eight-year-old dancer. Miss Sutton attended the Crane School of Dance in Skegness:
“THE OUTSTANDING performance at the old folk’s Homecoming Fund concerts of Janice Sutton, 8-years-old daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Sutton, High Street, Wainfleet. mark her as a talented dancer an songster. Janice is a pupil of they “Crane” Dancing School, and it is) be hoped that her voice will be to trained. If the promise she shows now crystalises Janice should at some future date become a variety performer.”
i go to janice suttons and i love it its sooooooo good and i take things all in and hopefully i want to be a singer and dancer when i am older

Janice’s Sutton is second to none. She is one of the nicest people I have ever met yet one of the most tireless, hardworking and dedicated people too. Her standards are so superior to the image of a ‘dancing school’, one wonders if she really is in her own unique catagory. Her unique excellence is exemplified by her pupils who are dancing all over the world on television, the West End Stages, Broadway, famous cruise ships and most noticeably, one Deborah Bull who acheived the position of Prima Ballerina of the Royal Ballet. Her tireless enthusiasm has steered many a pupil to stardom yet she remains modest and unassuming, always looking towards bettering herself and her school. She is definitely ‘hip’ and forward looking too as well as being a champion of stage and screen legends. Her spectacular shows display not only 400 talented pupils, but also her talents as a designer as well as a choreographer par excellence. She is a truly unique lady who is great fun, and who makes you feel welcome and comfortable the moment you meet her.

I have been dancing at Janice Suttons since i was 18 months old!! I am now 16 and ive never had any doubts or thoughts about quitting!
Rumours go around about Miss.Janice being strict and sexist!! Miss Janice welcomes boys as much as girls and at times she actually says how much she would like more boys to join the dance school! As for her being strict …i wouldnt call it that. All she wants is for her pupils to dance to their best and she only wants whats best for her pupils so that they can bcome a success!
She is a very proud women and kind and conciderate. The Janice Sutton Theatre School is her life and what she lives for. She puts all of her time and effort into the school and its pupils!!
Anyone is welcome to go and everyone is so friendly so know one ever has problems with making friends!

I HAVE BEEN GOIN TO JANICE SUTTONS FOR A FEW YEARS NOW AND AM ALSO DOIN DRAMA AND SINGING LESSONS.NOW LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR CHRISTMAS SHOW.
Ive been going to janice suttons since i was 3 and i am almost 16 now. She is the kindest lady you will ever meet and gives you all the opportunites there is!!
Everyone always says that she pushes you too far but one thing i can tell you is that it has never hurt me!! She helps you to reach for the goals you want in life and has taught me everything i no.
She has made me realise that i want to sing dance and act when i am older and im so grateful for that. She has gave me such brilliant opportunities such as performing in the west end and doing two shows a year which she gives me the chance to sing on my own in.
Miss janice is the best person you will ever meet but it is also with thanks to her husband ivan who without him alowing her to spend all her time at the studio none of my dreams could have come true!!

i used to go to janice suttons and i loved it, i started at the age of 3 and stopped at the age of 8 due to other intrestest. i enjoyed my time there and especially the shows. I have started dancing again but at a different dance school, i dont think i would be were i am now if it wasnt for my time at janices. She puts so much effort into what she does and it really shows. i love to dance and that what i want my future to involve i want to go to a dance shool at the age of 16 and i know that the work janice put in is what will hopefully get me there …x

i have been to Janice Suttons from the age of 2 and i loved it there and when i was little i was sooooo shy it was unbelievable for me!
But mrs Janice has taught us Dancing and to sing and also to act without me have gone to Janice Suttons My shyness would have never gone now im a 11 year old girl who still goes and theres no chance im ever going to leave i love it completely and all my friends at grammar are jealous of me and charlotte going to Janice Suttons and they really want to go !#
I HOPE ONE DAY I WILL BE ON THE WEST END AND BE A SINGER AND DANCER CAUSE THATS WHAT I WANT!
Mrs Janice gave me the oppertunity to sing on my own and i enjoyed every minuite dancing and singing on that stage when the show was over i cryed cause i love doing it!
Acctually i didnt enjoy every minuite i enjoyed every second!
